The quarry covers a surface area of c. 16 ha (39.5 acres) and comprises a two storey office building measuring c. 200sq.m (2,152 sq. ft) with a weighbridge. There are two concrete batching plants and an asphalt plant on the lands and concrete block making yard. The remainder of the lands c.62.7 acres – c. 25.4 ha are currently in grass.
From reviewing the Geological Survey Ireland (GIS) Spatial Resources service, the underlying geology for the site is gabbro, dolerite and diorite from the lower Palaeozoic.
